About the Artist

A senior at The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York, Estela has been drawn to creative storytelling for as long as she can remember. From writing plays with her second-grade class to forming a sketch comedy group in fourth grade that performed for her entire elementary school, she has always found ways to bring her ideas to life.

Estela discovered her passion for filmmaking during her freshman year of high school and has since pursued opportunities to develop her skills as a writer, filmmaker, and director. She has participated in several intensive summer film programs, including SOCAPA Vermont, California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA) Filmmaking Program, and the USC School of Cinematic Arts Summer Program Directing Intensive. Through these programs, she has written and directed short films while gaining experience in cinematography, editing, producing, and other aspects of production.

Her interest in visual storytelling extends beyond film. After taking digital and film photography classes, Estela began carrying a small digital camera everywhere, capturing candid moments and portraits of the people closest to her. Getting her own camera deepened her appreciation for photography as a way to preserve memories and capture the personalities of the people around her. She currently serves as Head Photographer for her school's MISH (Masters Invested in Serving Humanity) club, documenting MISH school events. She’s currently working on the communications team, and is creating a documentary about the 150 year long history of the club.

Outside of her own creative projects, Estela has gained hands-on experience in digital media through an internship at Magilla, a reality television production company, where she edits and produces social media content for the company's shows. Whether working on a film set, editing footage, or photographing friends, she enjoys exploring the different ways stories can be told through images and sound.

As a filmmaker, Estela is particularly drawn to character-driven stories that explore human relationships and the complexities of everyday life. She is interested in the small moments, subtle emotions, and details of people's lives that might otherwise go unnoticed. Through film and photography, she hopes to create work that feels personal, authentic, and true to her perspective.
